Ear Wax Removal

We are clinically trained in all aspects of ear wax removal, including:
​
  • Micro-suction
  • Ear Syringing or Irrigation
  • Manual Extraction

This ensures we can use the correct procedure depending on your requirements. Video otoscopy allows you to see inside your ears before and after your procedure

  • Kara has over 20 years experience, 11 of which working within the NHS which included supporting ENT clinics
  • Kara also specialised working with adults with learning disabilities. Because of this Kara has experience in managing complex hearing loss and complex ear pathology
  • Kara's wax removal training included full supervision over a period of time, as well as completing many case studies before being signed off as safe to practice. Kara's training therefore pre dates the 2 day courses which wax clinicians complete today
  • We use state of the art, hospital level equipment
  • We have a state of the art patient chair which allows for better comfort during extraction, whilst providing the highest level of safe practice.
  • We provide video otoscopy pre and post procedure so the patient can see the before and after results
  • We provide a complimentary 5 point hearing health care check

Our Equipment

Manual extraction using forceps and jobson horne probes

Water irrigation using the Guardian which is more gentle and acoustically quieter than other irrigators on the market

Microsuction we use the Hospivac which is designed for professional hospital applications for suctioning fluids, gases, tissue and bone. It is an excellent piece of kit for gentle and effective removal of wax

Tinnitus Consultation

Specialising in Tinnitus, we offer a 90 minute tinnitus consultation which includes a full hearing diagnostic, explanation of results and advice on effective tinnitus management

As an IDA institute member, I also use the IDA tinnitus and counselling tools during your consultation to help you understand your tinnitus better and devise a plan of management together

Hearing Test

With our state of the art diagnostic testing facilities, you will undergo a thorough hearing assessment, using the latest equipment in a sound treated environment

We aim to go above and beyond. Our 90 minute consultation not only assesses how well you hear sound, but we also test your ability to hear speech.
​We will spend the time with you going through your results and the best solutions to meet your needs
Home Visits and Out of Hours
Home visits are available upon request - please call to discuss your needs

​Want a hearing test at home?
A £35 call out charge in addition to the basic hearing test cost is payable for a home visit (Total of £70). The home visit takes 60 minutes and consists of:
  • Medical History 
  • Discussion of needs
  • Otoscopy
  • Pure Tone Audiogram
  • Explanation of results
  • Hearing Aid Demonstration
  • Discussion of options and care plans

It is estimated that 1 in 5 of the population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly live with some form of hearing loss - and numbers continue to grow

Hearing Loss Cornwall is a long established Cornish charity promoting inclusion and deaf awareness across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The charity provides information, advice, training and communication support,
including British Sign Language interpretation services

Whether you are profoundly deaf or living with hearing loss, Hearing Loss Cornwall offers support and advice on the services which are most relevant to you. Their aim is to build greater awareness about hearing loss, and help to highlight preventative measures to help ensure that people can minimise
their risk of hearing loss, or benefit from early diagnosis
