What is Noise Induced Hearing Loss?

1/12/2026

Noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) is one of the biggest occupational health problems facing us today. It is permanent and irreversible, but it is also preventable. NIHL is a gradual process and
when hearing damage occurs it is too late. For more information click here
NIHL disease occurs mainly in men, with the highest rates occurring in energy and extraction,
construction and manufacturing industries. It is the second most common reason for occupational
health-related employers’ liability insurance claims. There is an estimated 11,000 cases of hearing loss
caused by noise every year. See the government statistics here

Noise Protection Moulds

We provide basic to professional noise protection ear moulds, depending on your needs and budget. Starting from £99, the soft silicon ear moulds are custom made to your ears for a perfect fit and come with 25dB SNR (PPE (CAT III) CE2777 (EU)2016/425 | EN352) as standard. The Pro Flex passive, another budget friendly option, can be upgraded by adding an electronic module at a later date

Alternatively ACS offer their custom PRO series of noise protection starting at £115 per pair. The PRO Impulse filter has been specially developed to reduce sudden high volume sounds from being transmitted to the inner ear, giving the wearer protection when they need it while allowing normal hearing at all other times. The filter gives a constant noise reduction of approximately 15dB, increasing to a maximum of 33dB when activated by sudden high noise
