Lace Pro Auditory Training: Review

10/8/2025

Hearing is more than just ears, it’s how your brain processes sound. In this review, our head audiologist, Kara Butterworth, evaluates LACE AI Pro alongside real-world feedback from a K&M client. We look at how this at-home auditory training programme helps you sharpen listening skills, follow speech in noise, and grow confidence in conversation. Sessions are short, app-guided, and can be completed on your mobile, tablet, or computer.

What is Lace Pro?

LACE AI Pro is auditory brain training designed to improve how you process speech in everyday listening, especially in noisy places. It doesn’t replace hearing aids or a medical diagnosis, instead, it complements clinical care by training attention, working memory, and selective listening.

What you can work on with LACE
  • Improve understanding in noisy environments (restaurants, groups, meetings)
  • Boost speech comprehension and reduce listening effort
  • Strengthen cognitive listening skills (attention, memory, processing speed)
  • Build confidence in real-world conversations

Why “we hear with our brain”

Your ears transmit sound, your brain filters, focuses, and makes sense of it. In complex settings (e.g a busy restaurant) the healthy brain prioritises the voice you care about and filters the rest. With hearing loss or when central auditory processing is under strain the brain receives less reliable input and works harder to “fill in” missing speech sounds. This increases effort and fatigue.

Who LACE AI Pro can help

  • Hearing aid users who still struggle in noise and want better real-world outcomes
  • Mild hearing loss (not yet aided) looking to improve listening skills
  • “Normal” hearing on the audiogram but difficulty in noise, fast talkers, or accents
  • Auditory Processing Difficulties (APD-like symptoms) such as:
    • Decoding: hearing the sound but not making sense of it
    • Integration: difficulty multi-tasking while listening
    • Organisational: trouble recalling information in order
    • Prosodic: difficulty interpreting tone/inflection

Not sure where you fit? Book an assessment and we’ll advise if auditory training should be part of your plan.

K&M Hearing Solutions Head Audiologist’s Review

"As a Hearing Therapist I carried out Auditory Training with my patients with more complex needs when I worked for the NHS. I used Lace way back when the exercises were presented within a lever-arch folder, and I would read them out to my patients! I have always been a big believer in auditory training to retrain the brain, and it also compliments the use of hearing aid technology. Just like our muscles, the brain benefits from undergoing exercises to make it stronger and improves its ability to filter multiple signals in complex situations. In other words, auditory training will improve your brain's ability to process and understand sound!"

FAQs

Is LACE AI Pro a replacement for hearing aids?
No. It’s a training programme that helps your brain process sound better, particularly in noise. Many hearing aid users find LACE enhances the benefit they get from their devices.

How long before I notice improvements?
Many users report early changes within a few weeks of consistent training. Stronger results typically appear after several weeks of regular use.

Do I have to come into the clinic?
Training is home-based. We handle set-up, explain how to use the app, and review your progress with you.

Will the results last?
Research reports benefits that can persist for months. Like any training, occasional refreshers can help maintain your hearing improvements.
